Once a violent criminal always a violent criminal, I guess. I'm surprised everything including DUI doesn't just have a life sentence. We are SO much safer when the only people pardoned are those convicted of committing massive fraud.
In America, if you are found guilty or plead guilty, you serve your criminal sentence, and then, if you are an immigrant, you are likely targeted for deportation. In many cases, people with convictions that are decades old, with final removal orders decades old, are detained more than once for these old convictions. Pardoning them is a potential way out.
