CTG-5 G.L.O.V.E (Generated Low Output Voltage Emitter)
The Guardian, Aug. 11, 2026: “ICE plans to spend up to $20m to purchase thousands of gloves for officers and agents that can deliver painful electric shocks by March, according to a notice published Monday by the Department of Homeland Security. The devices, called Glove (Generated Low Output Voltage Emitter), are manufactured by Compliant Technologies LLC of Lexington, Kentucky. According to the manufacturer, “the discomfort associated with the stimulation is usually effective in bringing individuals into compliance in less than three seconds and leaves no burns, marks or scars”. The company has advertised the device as a “humane, low-optics, de-escalation solution for many situations facing our men and women in uniform”. The gloves have previously been used in settings such as jails in the US. … Civil rights advocates expressed alarm at the plan, saying ICE officers already face criticism for their use of force with little oversight or accountability while enforcing Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown. Jenn Rolnick Borchetta, deputy project director on policing at the American Civil Liberties Union, told the Associated Press that she questioned the use of the devices for civil immigration enforcement. “ICE spent the last year showing this country they are too quick to use force. Now they will be able to deploy electric shocks with the slight push of a button that maybe nobody else can see them do,” she said. “Introducing gloves that can so easily be used to deliver terrible pain in encounters is a recipe for harm to the public.”

IF YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT ICE ONLINE, YOU MIGHT GET A SUBPOENA:
PBS, Aug. 11, 2026: “Citizens have been training their cameras on ICE agents making arrests. Now the agency is apparently trying to turn the tables on observers with a digital surveillance operation. A number of individuals have been approached by ICE agents asking about their activity on the internet. Wall Street Journal reporter Hannah Critchfield has been investigating these cases and shares what she has found.”

ICE: PROTECTING US FROM ARGENTINIAN SOCCER STAR WHO ENTERED LEGALLY, HAS A WORK PERMIT AND NO CRIMINAL RECORD -
NY Post, Aug. 11, 2026: “A semi-pro soccer player was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents while traveling with his team to a match in Los Angeles and is now being held in a detention center in Florida. Matias Alejandro Pourrain, 34, was traveling with his teammates on Miami United, a club in the United Premier Soccer League, to a playoff match in Los Angeles when he was arrested by ICE agents at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Aug. 6. Pourrain, a native of Argentina, had cleared TSA when he was flagged, questioned and then arrested by federal agents. He is currently being held in Glades County Detention Center in Moore Haven, according to the Department of Homeland Security’s detainee database. … Club de Lyon, which Pourrain played for before joining Miami United this year, has posted several statements on social media, including one directly challenging ICE’s allegations. “He originally entered the United States legally with a visa. He has had a pending asylum case for years, a valid work permit, a Florida ID, and no criminal record,” the club wrote in a social media post. “During all these years, Matías has worked, paid his taxes, maintained his documentation, and built a life and a community here.” Miami United said in a statement that the club was “deeply shocked” by Pourrain’s detention and that the club has been supporting its player and his family, while also providing legal support for him. “We are cooperating with all parties involved and doing everything within our ability to help resolve this situation in the best possible way,” the club’s statement read. “Matias is not only an exceptional footballer, but an even better person and an important part of the Miami United family. His teammates, coaches, staff and the entire club stand firmly behind him and his family.”
